Sermon “Fazed and Disoriented”

My sermon this week at Grace Covenant Presbyterian Church in Asheville, NC is on Mary and Martha. Is this a liberating or oppressive text? Or both? Listen here and read here.

I think that your sermon calls on all of us to be BOTH Martha and Mary, almost interchangeably. We must continue to be “hosts and hostesses” in our daily lives, at home, work and at social interactions, but all of that goes with serving God in each of those areas, “what would Jesus WANT me to do, act, say.?” The sermon reminded me of that. I am so grateful that God has brought you to us.

Thank you, Karen. Amen to all that you have said. And we also must be willing to be “hosted” by God in those moments of Divine encounter when all we need to do is just listen and receive. Thank you for welcoming me so warmly. I am grateful to be a part of this strong faith community.
      Peace,
      Marcia
